How do/did you deal with shedding during your transition?

KCCM Ladies,

I am 4 months into my transition and my hair has behaved wonderfully up until the mishap I had with the setting lotion. Now, my hair is dry and shedding like crazy. I have fine hair which I think is 4a/4b.

I've noticed that my normal moisture routine is not working. My hair at the start loved the moisture, but now it seems to get very limp. Could I be deep conditioning too much? I haven't used hot oil treatments in a while since my hairdresser was "caring" for my hair, so maybe I should incorporate it back into my routine? I'm strongly considering going to a hair salon (or doing a DIY) and getting a trim and putting in a protein treatment. I've read about emergency recovery regimens online. One site (http://www.hairfinity.com/SecretsforFasterHairGrowth1.htm) seemed to have some good advice, but I want to know what you ladies think.

How did you address shedding? What were your results?
